In 2001 Bernd-Jurgen Brandes answered an advert posted by Armin Meiwes. They met, had some wine and some penis. In the end Brandes was slaughtered as consented and established beforehand.

As grotesque and horrific as the story of Meiwes is, the dilemma was that his 'slaughter' voluntarily and knowingly had participated in the act. However, Meiwes was convicted with a 8 1/2 year sentence for manslaughter, but later retrialed and ultimately convicted for murder and got life imprisonment.
To them it was a romance. To the rest of the world it was a gruesome brutality.
